São Paulo – The auto industry should resume growth in this year’s Q4, along with the expectations of an improvement in the economy, assesses Luiz Moan Yabiku Júnior, president of the National Association of Automakers (Anfavea). “I hope the political issues will be quickly solved so they won’t contaminate the economy anymore, with no partisan politics, no ideology. We all need to think about the country”, he declared during the 7th Automotive Industry Forum in the city of São Paulo.
Moan, who will leave the post of Anfavea’s president next month, said he was aware that would preside over the association during a period of economic crisis. With the worsening of the economic downturn, the results of absolute sales in March were below expectations. According to him, the sector should display a 20% to 25% increase in comparison to February, considered a poor performance. In February, the Carnival holiday and the lower number of business days reduced sales. “We missed on our forecasts. The estimation called for an improvement in the daily average [of sales], which didn’t happen”, he explained. The growth of 8.1% in exports remains.
