São Paulo – Sales of new vehicles in Brazil in June reached 201,982 units, up 3.6% in comparison to June of last year, according to a report released this Friday (06) by the Brazilian Association of Automotive Vehicle Manufacturers (ANFAVEA). From January to June, in comparison to the same period of last year, sales went up 14.4%.
To supply the needs of inventories replenishment, in shortage due to the truckers’ strike, vehicle production raised the pace. “The companies have worked for the recovery and preparation of inventories for the months of July and August,” said Antonio Carlos Botelho Megale, the association’s president.
In June, 256,305 units were produced, up 21.1% over the same month of last year. From January to June, production increased 13.6% over the same period of 2017.
Exports declined 4.4% over June of 2017. From January to June, foreign sales went up 0.5%. In value, exports increased 4% in June and 16.7% in the year’s first six months.
