São Paulo – Motor vehicles sales in Brazil plunged 12.92% in September over August and 22.58% in comparison to the same month of last year. The data was made available this Wednesday (5) by the Automotive Vehicles Distribution National Federation (Fenabrave). In September, 240,326 units were registered.
From January to September, in the comparison to the same period of last year, the decline reached 20.84%, with 2,380,807 vehicles being registered.
“Despite the slight improvement seen with the consumer confidence index, recent changes in the political scenario have not yet translated into the approval of measures to be taken in the economy. The high unemployment rates also trouble consumers, who, for these reasons, remain shy to buy”, said Alarico Assumpção Júnio, Fenabrave’s president.
Until the year’s end, Fenabrave believes registration of vehicles will have reached a decline of 19.33%.
