Brasília – Auto industry sales were up 6.69% in the first two months this year, as per a survey conducted by the National Motor Vehicle Distributors Association (Fenabrave). The survey comprises sales of automobiles, light commercial vehicles, buses, trucks, motorcycles and road implements, which have risen sharply as against the same period in 2013. A total of 853,087 units were sold in the first two months this year, as against 799,566 units in January and February 2013.
Sales also increased by 12.73% in February this year from February 348,773 in 2013. Last month, 393.159 vehicles were sold. In February from January’s 459,928 units sold, however, sales were down 14.52%. According to the Fenabrave, more purchases were made in January due to the fact that the Tax on Industrialized Products (IPI, in the Portuguese acronym) was lower.
