São Paulo – Brazilians that live abroad and work with science, technology, innovation and entrepreneurship can sign up for the 2nd Prêmio Diáspora Brasil – O Talento Brasileiro que Inspira o Mundo (2nd Diaspora Brazil Award – The Brazilian Talent that Inspires the World). The award is given by the Brazilian Agency for Industrial Development (ABDI, in the Portuguese acronym) and registrations are open in the internet until April 22th.
According to ABDI, the goal is to recognize talents with outstanding dedication and innovative vision in their work areas, contributing positively for the image of Brazil and for the approximation between their country of residence and Brazil. Registration can be made in the following categories: communication and information technology, health complex and business management.
The award is an action of Rede Diáspora Brasil, an initiative of ABDI that aims at structuring a collaborative network of Brazilian professionals abroad for business and projects generation in the knowledge and technology areas. The target audience is made of executives, entrepreneurs, academics, decision makers and professionals in the tech and scientific innovation areas, besides foreigners with affinities and proximity with Brazil.
The award will also choose Brazilians or citizens of other nationalities that have made contributions for the strengthening of the network last year, and will give two honorable mentions to personalities, expatriated Brazilians, for their performance on behalf of Brazil.
The candidates can enroll in only one category. The category Business Management includes Brazilians living abroad with experience in organizational leadership and business implementation in a connection between industry, academia, research institutions or private or public organizations. It’s aimed at executives, businessmen, entrepreneurs and professionals of Brazilian or international companies with offices abroad.
The category Health Complex will award expat Brazilians that work in the health area, such as researchers of new drugs, biotechnology, gene therapy, medical equipment, among others. The goal is to highlight activities related to health with a dimension in economy and pharmaceutical and equipment industry.
The category Communication and Information Technology will award professionals in the areas of networked computing, hardware, software, microelectronics, mobile phones, satellite systems, wi-fi systems, radio, television, with works that meddle or mediate informational and communicative processes between human beings. They must allow automation and communication of business, scientific and learning research processes.
For the awards, first it will be made a pre-selection by the organizing committee, which will be forwarded to the awards committee, which will choose the winners. The awards night will be held at Palácio do Itamaraty, in Brasilia, in a cocktail party, on May 28th. In the next day, there will be a workshop with the winners, public and private organizations of science, tech, innovations and entrepreneurship.
