São Paulo – Bahrain’s Ambassador to Brazil, Bader Abbas Alhelaibi, highlighted several achievements of his country during an event on Tuesday (10) night in Brasília celebrating Bahrain’s National Day. The diplomat mentioned that the celebrations led him to reflect on the progress made by the country, part of a process initiated by King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.
According to Alhelaibi, 2024 was a year of major achievements for his country, which posted a 9% increase in foreign direct investment, ranked fifth in the Information and Communication Technology Development Index, and hosted the 33rd Arab Summit. Among the results was a conference on the Palestinian Issue and measures to support education and healthcare for those affected by conflicts.
The ambassador reminded that this year, Brazil and Bahrain are celebrating the golden jubilee of their diplomatic relations. He mentioned that several events took place to mark the occasion. According to the diplomat, the fifth round of political consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of the two countries was held in Manama. Alhelaibi also highlighted Brazil’s participation in the Manama Dialogue and the cooperation between legislative authorities.
Alhelaibi also reminded that the celebration of the National Day coincides with the silver jubilee of the ascension to the throne of the King of Bahrain. “In the last twenty-five years, His Majesty has led Bahrain with a wise vision that promoted tolerance, human coexistence, and fraternity, and improved communication and solidarity between nations,” he said, highlighting that these are values deeply rooted in the country’s identity.
The Bahrain National Day event had, among its guests, several officials, such as Clélio Nivaldo Crippa Filho, the Director of the Middle East Department at the Brazilian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and diplomats. The Arab-Brazilian Chamber of Commerce (ABCC) was represented by its secretary-general and vice president of international relations, Mohamad Orra Mourad. There were also musical performances.
