Brasília – The forecast by financial institutions on this year’s GDP signals a steeper fall, going from 3.54% to 3.60%. For 2017, the outlook points for the growth of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP), but it went down from 0.50% to 0.44%. The projections are part of the Focus Bulletin, a survey that is done weekly by the Brazilian Central Bank (BC) based on the opinion of financial institutions.
Those that answered the survey also reduced for the second consecutive week the forecast for the inflation as measured by the Extended National Consumer Price Index (IPCA). The new estimation now stands at 7.43% against the previous one of 7.46%. For 2017, the forecast calls for a 6% inflation. The estimated inflation rate is still far from the center of the target, which is 4.5% and, this year, stands above the 6.5% upper threshold of the target.
