Brasília – Financial institutions polled by the Brazilian Ministry of Finance are expecting the so-called Central Government (National Treasury, Social Security and Central Bank) to post a combined BRL 158.8 billion (USD 50.5 billion) deficit this year, up from BRL 155.5 billion (USD 49.4 billion) in the previous forecast.
The projection is from the ninth edition of the Prisma Fiscal poll, carried out by the Secretariat For Economic Policy of the Ministry of Finance, and covering 30 banks. The results were released this Thursday (11) in Brasília. The estimate for 2017 moved from BRL 129.2 billion (USD 41 billion) to BRL 138.5 billion (USD 44 billion).
Federal revenues are seen reaching BRL 1.269 trillion (USD 403.6 billion) this year, up from BRL 1.275 trillion (USD 405.5 billion) in the prior forecast. The projection for 2017 changed from BRL 1.372 trillion (USD 436.4 billion) to BRL 1.364 trillion (USD 433.89 billion).
