Brasília – The Central Bank of Brazil (BC, acronym in Portuguese) reduced its projection for Brazilian economy growth this year. The estimate for the growth of Gross Domestic Product (GDP) went from 2.4% to 2%. The forecast is part of the Inflation Report published this Thursday (28) by BC.
Among the factors influencing this reduction, BC mentions a lower-than-expected growth in the fourth quarter of 2018. Other factors included the “repercussions of the tragedy in Brumadinho on the mineral extraction industry.” BC also mentions the estimated reduction for agriculture crops and a restraint seen in the pace of the recuperation of the economy.
