São Paulo – The Anaport brand, which has a factory for producing gymnastics wear and bikinis in the city of Feira de Santana, state of Bahia, is about to become a franchise. The plans have been drawn up for 2010. After strengthening the brand in the domestic market, the company will set out to seek opportunities abroad as well. The company already sells to Spain, Portugal and Italy.
“We are negotiating with the first client in the state of Sergipe and, taking into account how long we have been in the market (15 years), we are optimistic about the possibilities of expansion, firstly in Brazil. If everything goes well, then we will risk larger work abroad,” say the director of the company, Adriana Portugal.
Anaport was one of the companies that participated in Fashion Business 2009, in early June, an event held on the sidelines of Fashion Rio. “We made some great contacts,” says the businesswoman. According to her, the differentials showcased by the brand during the event included more classical bikinis with less décolletage.
“During the Fashion Business we managed to appeal much more to foreign clients than to Brazilian storeowners. Among those most interested were buyers from Canada, Japan and some European countries,” she says
The small company manufactures 10,000 items per month on average, and employs 35 people. The brand has its own designer, and the inspiration and theme for each new collection come from trips taken by Adriana and her mother, Dilma Portugal, who is also a partner at Anaport. “The trips are inevitable and allow us to follow style trends, and use raw materials that meet global standards. We count on a cohesive, participative team that is committed with the ideals of the company and of the community," says Adriana.
According to her, Anaport focuses on creativity and quality. “Our hot weather, the exuberance of our landscapes, and the riches of our culture influence the Brazilian way of being,” she sums up.
