São Paulo – The Brazilian petrochemical company Braskem and the Venezuelan Pequiven will start studying the construction of an industrial unit in the Petrochemical Complex of Tablazo, in Venezuela. The factory will have the production capacity of 400,000 tonnes of polypropylene per year.
The companies signed a memorandum in February this year agreeing to evaluate joint business development opportunities in Venezuela. The country owns the greatest oil and natural gas reserves in Latin America and has a strategic geographic position in relation to international markets.
Braskem is a market leader in thermoplastic resins in Latin America and is positioned amongst the three greatest private industrial companies with Brazilian capital. With 13 industrial plants distributed in Brazil, the company produces annually 5.8 million tonnes of resins and other petrochemical products. The information is from the Braskem spokesman.
