Cairo – Brazil and Egypt signed an agreement for joint development of industrial innovations on this Wednesday (14th) in Cairo. The agreement was signed by the Brazilian Industrial Development Agency (ABDI) and the Egyptian National Competitiveness Council (ENCC), represented by the president of the Brazilian agency, Reginaldo Braga Arcuri, and the chairman of the Egyptian council, Helmy Abdouleish.
The solemnity took place at the Semiramis Intercontinental Hotel, where the Brazilian delegation organized by the Brazilian Ministry of Development, Industry and Foreign Trade that is currently visiting the country is staying. The meeting was attended by the Brazilian minister of Development, Miguel Jorge, and the Egyptian minister of Industry and Trade, Rachid Mohamed Rachid. “The Brazilian and Egyptian industries have a great future together,” said Jorge.
According to Arcuri, the idea for the agreement came up after members of the two organizations met during the World Competitiveness Council in January this year, in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. They scheduled the signing of the cooperation agreement taking into consideration the Brazilian delegation’s visit.
According to Arcuri, the objective is to lay the foundations for companies from the two countries to increase the competitiveness of their products and services and establish innovation-oriented business partnership, with help from their governments. The project is also part of the Brazilian strategy for integration with Africa, and will contribute to the devising of industrial policies between Brazil and Egypt.
According to the president of the ABDI, the ENCC is the second council that Brazil signs an agreement with. The first one was that of the United States. The cooperation work with councils from other countries is carried out in tandem with the Movimento Brasil Competitivo (Competitive Brazil Movement), a civil organization that encourages competitiveness in the country, headed by the government and businessmen.
