São Paulo – The government of Brazil announced on Tuesday (17) the donation of US$ 1.2 million to the United Nations Children’s Fund (Unicef). The funds will be turned to humanitarian projects in Angola, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, El Salvador, Haiti, Mali, Mauritania, Niger, Rwanda and Somalia, and to actions for disasters risk reduction in Latin America and the Caribbean.
According to the Itamaraty, each initiative should receive US$ 100,000. The funds will be applied by the UN agency in partnership with Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs).
