São Paulo – To curb the spread of the novel coronavirus, the Brazilian government announced on Monday (31) the temporary ban on the arrival, by land or water, of foreigners of any nationality. The decision was included in the Federal Gazette and was prompted by a recommendation from Brazil’s health regulatory agency Anvisa. The ordinance does not detail the length of the ban.
However, the ban does not target air flights, as long as the appropriate migratory requirements are followed and a PCR test negative result for COVID-19 carried out within 72 before boarding is presented.
The ordinance came into force on Monday (31). The document was endorsed by Civil House minister Luiz Eduardo Pereira, Justice and Public Security minister Anderson Gustavo Torres, and Health minister Marcelo Queiroga Lopes.
