Brasília – The Central Bank of Brazil continues its process of accumulation of international reserves. This information was disclosed by the organisation’s president, Alexandre Tombini, while being questioned by the Senate, on Tuesday (28). According to him, the bank’s explicit policy is accumulation of reserves over time.
On Friday (27), international reserves totalled US$ 355.438 billion. The Central Bank has been promoting several dollar purchase operations this month, when the real is becoming stronger. These purchases contribute to increase the foreign currency reserves and avoid excessive appreciation of the real against the US currency.
