São Paulo – The Brazilian Minister of Foreign Relations issued a statement this Friday (13th) condemning the attacks that took place in the southern Beirut neighborhood Burj el-Barajneh, in Lebanon, last Thursday evening (12th).
The ministry stated that “Brazil condemns vehemently the attack claimed by the terrorist group self-proclaimed as Islamic State, and offers its condolences to the victims’ families and to the government and people of Lebanon.” The British network BBC said at least 41 people died in consequence of the two explosions.
“The Brazilian government reiterates its support to the efforts of the Lebanese government to maintain stability in the country, and to Lebanon’s policy of not avoiding involvement in regional conflicts,” the statement reads. According to the Ministry, there are no reports of Brazilian citizens among the victims.
