São Paulo – The Brazilian football team defeated Argentina yesterday, in Lima, Peru, and won the Copa America. Brazil won the competition after a penalty shoot-out, defeating Argentina 4 – 2. This is the seventh time Brazil wins Copa America.
At the end of playing time, the game was drawn 2 – 2. The first goal, for Argentina, came at 19 minutes of the first half, a penalty shot by Killy Gonzales. At the end of the first half, Brazil drew the game after a foul. Alex kicked, and Luizão scored the goal with a header.
The second Argentine goal, scored by Delgado, came at 42 minutes of the second half. When the championship seemed in the hands of the Argentinians, in overtime, at 48 minutes of the second half, Adriano, Copa America top scorer, with seven goals, drew the game and took the decision to a penalty shoot-out.
