São Paulo – The Brazilian Ministry of Foreign Relations announced this Thursday (28th) that the country’s government is going to donate 38,000 tonnes of food to Somalia and another 15,000 tonnes to refugee camps in Ethiopia.
According to the Brazilian foreign ministry (Itamaraty), the measure is a response to the worsening of the humanitarian situation in the region known as the Horn of Africa. In addition to being the plagued by conflict, the area is suffering from a severe drought. The donation will be made in partnership with the UN World Food Programme.
