São Paulo – Brazil’s coffee exports to the Arab countries fetched US$ 117.8 million from January to July of this year, an increase of 6.4% over the same period of 2014. The volume shipped, however, declined 4% in the same comparison and stood at 785,982 60-kg bags. The data was released this Friday (7th) by the Brazilian Coffee Exporters Council (Cecafé).
Total external sales of Brazilian coffee totaled US$ 3.623 billion in the first seven months of 2015, an increase of 4.5% over the same period of last year. In turn, the volume exported declined 0.5% in the same comparison with 20.52 million bags.
The increase in revenues at the same time of a decline in the volume traded indicates a hike in the average price of the product in the global market in the period.
In July alone, shipments fetched slightly more than US$ 445 million, a decline of 19.7% over the same month of 2014. In all, 2.8 million bags were shipped, a decline of 8% in the same comparison.
Separated by regions, the main destinations for the Brazilian coffee from January to July were Europe, North America, Asia and South America. Among the countries, the largest markets were the United States, Germany, Italy and Japan.
