Brasília – Exports from Brazil to other countries amounted to US$ 2.8 billion during the third week of December, and imports amounted to US$ 1.9 billion. Accumulated sales of Brazilian products to foreign countries in December reached US$ 6.5 billion, and accumulated imports reached US$ 4.2 billion. The data were disclosed today (18) by the Brazilian Ministry of Development, Industry and Foreign Trade.
This year, exports reached US$ 131.7 billion, which was close to the US$ 135 billion goal set by the government for 2006. With imports at US$ 88.3 billion, the trade balance recorded a surplus of US$ 43.4 billion.
The government did not set any trade surplus goals, but the ministry projects a surplus of US$ 44 billion for this year.
