São Paulo – The Brazilian Federal Police (PF) launched two operations this Tuesday (15) against international drug trafficking and money laundering in cooperation with other countries, including Arab nations United Arab Emirates and Morocco. The information was released to the press by the PF, which clarified the goal is to dismantle criminal organizations.
In one of the operations, called Turfe, the forecast was to fulfill 20 arrest warrants and 30 search and seizure warrants in five Brazilian states, in addition to police cooperation measures in Paraguay, Spain, and the UAE. The investigation is about a group responsible for acquiring drugs in producing countries and the internationalization and logistics of storing and exporting them to European countries.
According to information from the Federal Police, Brazilian and foreign authorities acted in cooperation in the international field, optimizing results achieved against criminals. The name of the operation (“turf”) refers to one of the organization’s forms of money laundering, which is the acquisition and trading of racehorses.
The other operation is Brutium, for which 19 arrest warrants and 17 search and seizure warrants were expected to be conducted in three Brazilian states. The focus of the investigation is the fight against the international trafficking of cocaine for shipments from Bolivia and Peru to European countries. The PF informed the investigative work had the collaboration of France, Morocco, Belgium, Spain, and the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) of the United States. The name of the operation refers to members of a criminal organization.
