Brasília – Brazil hopes for the transaction of power in Egypt, as a result of the resignation of president Hosni Mubarak, to take into consideration political and civil liberties and also the human rights of the population, said on Friday (11) the Ministry of Foreign Relations.
Still according to the press statement, Brazil hopes for the power change in the African country to take place in peace and calm. The press statement says that Brazil is following the evolution of the political situation in Egypt with great interest.
Apart from being an important Brazilian partner, adds the Itamaraty, Egypt plays an important part in stability in the Middle East. The press statement also shows that Brazil reaffirms the confidence that Egyptian political leaders are developing "to face this moment of new opportunities and challenges, in an environment of understanding and democratic dialogue".
According to the press statement, the minister of Foreign Relations, Antonio Patriota, is talking to the secretary general of the United Nations, Ban Ki-Moon, and to members of the Security Council of the United Nations to evaluate the impact of the crisis in Egypt and stability in the Middle East. The minister is in New York to preside a session of the Security Council of the United Nations on the Interdependence between Safety and Development.
