São Paulo – According to information disclosed today (20) by the Ministry of Agriculture, Brazil may have a record cashew nut harvest this year. The crop, says the Ministry, may reach 300,000 tonnes, 100,000 tonnes more than in the previous crop. The reason is that this year more rain is forecasted in the Northeast of the country, the largest producer.
According to the National Food Supply Company (Conab), the product market price is forecasted to be between R$ 0.93 (US$ 0,43 at current exchange rates) and R$ 1.10 (US$ 0.51) per kilogram. The Conab, which is connected to the Ministry of Agriculture, is going to purchase the product for R$ 1.10.
