São Paulo – The Ministry of Social Development and Hunger Alleviation is going to participate, starting today (27), in the 26th International Population Conference, in Marrakech, Morocco. The organisation of the event should by developed by the International Union for the Scientific Study of Population (Iussp).
The ministry should be represented by the general Evaluation and Monitoring coordinator of the Information Evaluation and Management Secretariat, Júnia Quiroga. She should present a paper in the panel on methodology for counting populations that are hard to measure, to take place tomorrow.
According to a press statement by the Ministry, Júnia coordinated the National Research on Population Living in the Streets, between 2007 and 2008. She also promoted a study on the difficulty on identifying and counting street population, the subject to be presented at the conference.
According to information supplied by the Ministry, 3,156 works by researchers worldwide were enrolled for the conference, but only 900 were accepted for oral presentation at the event.
Always according to the Ministry, the Brazilian researcher should also participate in a debate on vulnerable minorities on Tuesday, to include the participation of speakers from Argentina, Paraguay and India.
