São Paulo – The first batch of vaccines against COVID-19 of 2022 arrived in Brazil, with 1.1 million shots from the North American pharmaceutical company Pfizer. According to the Brazilian Ministry of Health, the shipment with immunizing agents landed this Sunday (2) afternoon at the Viracopos Airport in Campinas, São Paulo.
This year, Brazil expects to receive another 354 million shots, 100 million of which from a contract with Pfizer and 120 million from AstraZeneca, produced by the Oswaldo Cruz Foundation (Fiocruz). The remainder refers to agreements signed in 2021, expected to be delivered throughout 2022.
According to the latest balance by the Ministry of Health, 328.5 million coronavirus shots have been applied across the country, 143.7 million of which second or single shots. Over 20 million people have received the additional booster shots.
