São Paulo – The auto industry ended 2010 with record production and sales on the domestic market. A total of 3.515 million vehicles were sold, 11.9% more than in 2009. In December alone, the number of cars licensed totalled 381,552, growth of 30.21% over November (328,473). The figures were presented on Thursday (6) by the National Association of Vehicle Manufacturers (Anfavea).
According to the organisation, last year production totalled 3.638 million vehicles, which exceeded the 2009 result by 14.3%. In December, (283,873 units were sold): 10.3% reduction over the volume sold in the previous month. But in comparison with the same period last year, there was growth of 12.3%.
Exports totalled US$ 12.8 billion in 2010, growth of 54.7% over 2009. From November to December, there was a reduction of 12.5%. In the comparison between December and the same period in 2009, there was growth of 23.2%.
