Rio de Janeiro – The country produced 725 million dozen eggs in Q2 of this year, the highest volume since the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE) started to survey egg production in 1983. The result was 2.7% higher than the one from Q1 and 3.9% higher than the one from Q2 2014.
The production is mainly concentrated in the Southeast (47.8%), with São Paulo being the largest producing state in the country (29.3%), followed by Minas Gerais (9.9%) and Espírito Santo (8.4%).
