São Paulo – The Commercial Promotion Sector (Secom, in Portuguese) of the Brazilian embassy in Amman, Jordan has reported this Thursday (30th) that Brazil was represented at the Horeca Jordan 2014 exhibition, held in the Jordanian capital from October 21st to 23rd. The exhibition targets the food and beverage services and hospitality industry.
The embassy arranged a Brazilian stand featuring the coffee company Brazilian Coffee House, the guaraná importing company Souna Muhaisen & Partners, and the sugar company Al-Safa Factory. According to Secom, the exhibition was a good opportunity for the guaraná company, because it had received its first batch of the product a few days earlier.
The Secom also reported that promotional material from the Brazilian Rice Industry Association (Abiarroz) was available at the stand.
The Brazilian area was visited by the Jordanian minister of Tourism, Nidal Katamine, who was welcomed by the Brazilian ambassador in Amman, Renate Stille.
According to the Secom, the event featured approximately 100 exhibitors from several countries and strong attendance. The Horeca exhibition is held annually in Lebanon and this was its first edition in Lebanon, which will host the event again next year.
The hospitality industry is particularly important in Jordan, since tourism is one of the main local economic activities. For the sake of illustration, in July alone the country grossed US$ 2.5 billion in tourism revenues, according to the Jordanian Central Bank.
