São Paulo – This Thursday (6th), the chairman of the National Motor Vehicle Manufacturers Association (Anfavea), Luiz Moan, has announced a study of Brazilian auto industry trends for the next 20 years. In one of three scenarios (optimistic, basic and pessimistic) outlined in the report "2034 – A Vision of the Future" the Brazilian population will soar from 201 million today to 226 million in 2034, an average growth of 0.5% a year.
Considering an average growth of 3% per year, the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) will go from US$ 2.243 trillion in 2013 to US$ 4.036 trillion in 2034, resulting in a per capita GDP increase from US$ 11,200 in 2013 to US$ 17,900 in 2034. Given the expected increase in per capita GDP and global trends in motorization rates, the study points out that the number of automobiles in Brazil will increase by 140%, from 39.7 million in 2013 to 95.2 million in 2034.
