São Paulo – In order to attract more foreign tourists to the states in the Brazilian Northeast, the Ministry of Tourism, by means of the Brazilian Tourism Institute (Embratur), has made an extra budget of 5.2 million real (US$ 3 million) available for advertising campaigns in the foreign market.
The United States, Portugal, Spain, Italy, Germany, France, Chile, Argentina and the Netherlands are going to be targets of the campaigns, which include advertisements in specialized magazines, in buses, and outdoor ads, plus a 15-minute video in more than 5,000 flights of the Portuguese airline TAP. The campaign is going to last seven months.
The main attractions of the Northeast region are its sunny, hot beaches, which attract tourists all year long. Besides, the local states want to promote the culture, cuisine, and history of the cities.
According to the Ministry of Tourism, its trade promotion schedule already includes over 300 actions abroad this year. In total, the Embratur is going to make 12 million real (US$ ) available for promoting Brazilian tourism in foreign countries.
Aside from advertising campaigns, the funds will be spent on publications for travel agencies, image bank production, and caravans with international travel agents.
