Brasília – With the goal of strengthening the actions against hunger and focused on nutritional security, representatives of the World Food Programme of the United Nations (WFP) and the Brazil’s National Supply Company (Conab) signed this Thursday (30th) a document to promote the exchange of experiences between Brazil and other developing countries.
According to the director of the UM’s World Food Programme, Daniel Balaban, countries from Africa and Asia will use Brazilian experiences as examples for the implementation of programs that should help in the fight against hunger, with the strengthening of family farming.
Among the initiatives mentioned by Balaban, the highlights are the Brazilian government’s programs of food acquisition and school feeding, through which public schools include in their meals products from family farming.
“The most important thing is for these countries to be able, based on the Brazilian experience, to implement their own programs of fighting hunger and poverty and of social inclusion, with the support of the small family farmer”, added the UN’s director.
According to Conab’s president, Rubens Rodrigues, the company will offer technicians for the training, qualification and education of people within and outside Brazil.
“Besides showcasing successful projects, we will also have access to what is been working in other countries, so we can bring these models to Brazil”, he concluded.
