São Paulo – Brazil saw record-setting exports of agribusiness products in June, the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply reported on Tuesday (13). Revenue from shipments reached USD 12.1 billion, up 25% from the same period in 2020.
The record was due to it being the highest number ever recorded in Brazilian sector exports in the month of June. According to MAPA, the most substantial factor driving this performance was the increase in international prices for agribusiness products exported by Brazil, which was 30.4% over the same month last year.
Soybean complex was the leading export sector of Brazilian agribusiness, accounting for over half the shipment income. Soybeans were the main product. Foreign sales of soybeans reached a record of USD 5.30 billion, even with a 12.9% reduction in the exported volume, which was 11.1 million tonnes.
Animal protein exports also grew in June: 26.6% to USD 1.78 billion. These numbers include beef, poultry, and pork, and the volume increased in all areas. Beef sales grew 12.7% to USD 834.24 million, and poultry sales surged 45.8%, reaching USD 636.26 million.
