São Paulo – The Brazilian Agricultural Research Corporation (Embrapa) is going to establish a partnership with the French Agricultural Research Centre for International Development (CIRAD). The two organisations are going to establish the International Consortium of Advanced Biology (CIBA).
The consortium is going to manage studies developed by the Embrapa and the Tropical and Mediterranean Agronomy Research Hub (Agrópolis), headquartered in the city of Montpellier (France), and other institutions. The CIBA letter of intentions will be signed on Wednesday (26), by Embrapa president Silvio Crestana, and by the general director of the CIRAD, Gérard Matheron, in Brazilian capital Brasília.
With the partnership medium and long term continuity is guaranteed to advanced biology research applied to fulfilling the expectations of farmers in the tropical, subtropical and Mediterranean world. The consortium will receive investment of US$ 3 million. In practice, with the signing of this document, CIRAD will become a mediator of the partnership between the Embrapa and Agrópolis.
