São Paulo – Brazil earned US$ 2.1 billion with beef exports from January to August this year. The value represents an increase by 32.7% over the same period last year. The increase was driven mainly by the sales good performance to some markets.
Algeria, for example, purchased US$ 69 million worth of beef from Brazil during the first eight months of the year, 200% more than in the same period in 2004. Also exports to Bulgaria increased by 382%, with US$ 53 million.
Brazil continues as the leader in world exports of bovine beef. In the accumulated value for the last 12 months external sales added up to US$ 2.9 billion, 36% more than in the 12 previous months. In volume, exports increased by 38%.
