São Paulo – Brazil sold bovine beef to 140 countries between January and October this year, against 106 destinations during the same period in 2003. The information was disclosed today (09) by the Brazilian Beef Industry and Exporters Association (Abiec). During the first 10 months of 2004, the country exported 1.5 million tonnes of the product and had revenues of more than US$ 2 billion, which means a 41% increase in the volume shipped, and a 69% increase in the receipts, in comparison to the same period last year.
In October, 181,700 tonnes of beef were exported at US$ 224.8 million, which represents an increase by 33% in the quantity shipped and 26% increase in revenue, in relation to the same month in 2003. During the month, the Arab countries Egypt and Algeria featured among the 10 main buyers of the Brazilian producers.
