São Paulo – Brazilian Rogério Micale has taken over Egypt‘s Olympic football team, according to an announcement made by the Egyptian Football Association (EFA) this Sunday (7). The EFA released a picture on its social media of the signing of the contract between Micale and federation board member Mohamed Barakat. Pictured above, Micale (left) and Barakat (right).
Rogério Micale, a former football player born in the state of Bahia, was in charge of the Brazilian men’s football team at the 2016 Olympic Games, when the team won the gold medal, and has played for Brazilian clubs such as Atlético Mineiro, Figueirense, and Paraná, and abroad in Saudi Arabia’s Al-Hilal, and UAE’s Al-Dhafra.
The next Olympic Games will occur from July to August 2024 in Paris, France. Micale’s work aims to qualify the Egyptian men’s Olympic football team for the 2024 Olympics. At the 2016 Olympic Games, which took place in Rio, Brazil won seven golds.
