São Paulo – The number of visitors and contacts at the Brazilian stand tripled during the third day of Khartoum International Fair, in Sudan. The Brazil space, organized by the Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce, counts on the participation of four companies: Grendene, in the shoe sector; Cotrimex, in building material; Serlac, in dairy products; and trading company Agroway, which sells several halal products.
"We were impressed with the movement. The Brazilian stand was crowded, mainly at night" explained Hans Lazarte Lima, Foreign Trade assistant at the Chamber, which is participating in the fair to grant support to the companies and to help promote the Brazilian market.
According to Lima, Brazilian products called great attention. "They all want to touch the samples. Shoes like those made by Grendene, for example, have great acceptance here," he pointed out. "Apart from the contacts made at the fair, Brazilian companies made use of the day to visit clients contacted during the first days of the event. Serlac is one with a completely full agenda," he added.
According to him, the Brazilian stand was also visited by an important Sudanese importer who already imports Brazilian products, and is now negotiating with three of the companies present at the fair. "They represent one of the main trade centres of the capital and were greatly interested in Brazilian products. There is only no chance of business for Cotrimex, as they do not work with ornamental stones," he pointed out. "But Cotrimex still made important contacts and has already visited some companies during the period in which the fair is closed (from 2:00 pm to 5:30 pm)," he added.
"What we have noticed is that Brazilian companies interested in the Sudanese market have to come to the country, bring their samples and catalogues and present them to importers. Another route is to seek the Foreign Trade Department at the Arab Brazilian Chamber which may supply information about Brazilian and Sudanese companies to simplify the contact and generate business opportunities," he said.
Khartoum International Fair is multisectorial and ends on Saturday (07) in the Sudanese capital.
