São Paulo – Brazilian company Yamá Cosméticos has broken into Qatar. Since February 2020, the company has sold its hair care lines Yamasterol, Nutrelliss and Fashion Fantasy. “We started through one point of sale in Qatar, and the product is already in the market. Now we seek out a local distributor to expand the work and reach a wider audience,” Yamá Cosméticos CEO Fábio Yamamora (pictured above) told ANBA.
To break into the Arab country, the company used one of its products that gave origin to the company’s portfolio. “Yamasterol started the company’s history; it has been successful in Brazil and is now reaching the foreign market. Qatar introduced Yamasterol Babose, Branco and Argan versions,” the CEO said, pointing out that these products are the top-class profile.
Yamá is over 50 years old and is an Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce (ABCC) member. The company started its export program in 2017 through the export incentive scheme Beautycare Brazil, a project promoted by the Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (Apex-Brasil) together with the Brazilian Association of the Cosmetics, Toiletry and Fragrance Industry (Abihpec). With the project, the company participated in B2Bs and trade shows across the world, including the Beautyworld Middle East in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. During its participation in 2018 event, the company started targeting the Arab countries.
The company’s CEO sees the Qatari market as promising. For the Brazilian company, although Qatar suffers sanctions, a market share in the country can be an opportunity to spread into the Middle East. “The fact it’s hosting the next World Cup [ in 2022] may be a factor for us to break into other countries in the Middle East and Africa as well,” he said.
Yamamora bets on the diversity of the products create by the company to expand into the foreign market. “We are a 53-year-old Japanese-Brazilian that manufactures its own products, values its products’ quality and performance and is known for offering quality products for affordable prices. Brazilian ethnic diversity made us hair experts. We want to care for the hair of the women of the world!” he finished.
