Brasília – Brazilian consumer expectation regarding the economy has improved for the second consecutive month. Devised by the National Confederation of Industry (CNI, in the Portuguese acronym), the National Consumer Expectation Index (Inec) increased from 109.7 points in September to 112 points in October, a 2.1% hike. Year-to-date, the index is only lower than the 113.9 score seen in January.
According to the CNI, the result in October seems to confirm the Inec rebound, but the components of the total index show mixed results. Month-on-month in October, the expectation that inflation rate will decline has increased by 12.7%. The index of unemployment rate decline has increased by 7%. The expectation for personal income evolution, however, declined by 1.2%. The index of assessment of personal financial status grew by 0.7%.
