São Paulo – The Brazilian toiletry, perfume, and cosmetic products sector exported USD 332.7 million in the first half of this year, a 16% increase over the same period in 2020. The data were released this Wednesday (11) by the Brazilian Toiletry, Perfume and Cosmetics Industry Association (ABIHPEC).
The institution highlighted the growth in this second year of the pandemic was mainly driven by hair care products. In this niche, revenue from international sales was USD 73.9 million. Deodorants accumulated USD 37.7 million in exports.
According to ABIHPEC, the scenario is influenced by June indicators, since the month registered, for the first time in 2021, a surplus of around USD 500,000 in the trade balance.
In June, the most exported products were soaps, with USD 13.5 million in revenue, hair care products, with USD 12.9 million, and deodorants, with USD 7.2 million. The gains in these markets were, respectively, 3%, 43.8%, and 34.8% compared to the same period last year.
There was also an excellent performance among the companies participating in the Brazilian toiletries, perfumes, and cosmetics industry internationalization project, Beautycare Brazil. The group exported USD 89.81 million in the first half of 2021. The amount represents a 32% expansion compared to the same period in 2020. The program was created by ABIHPEC in partnership with the Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (Apex-Brasil).
