Rio de Janeiro – The Brazilian Development Bank (BNDES) announced today (17) that it has completed a 750 million euro issue of bonds on the foreign market, maturing in 2017 and at yield of 4.243% a year. This was the first BNDES issue in euros in ten years. The funds should be added to the bank’s budget.
According to figures disclosed by a spokesperson for the bank, this was also the lowest interest on BNDES issues in euros on the foreign market. Banks BNP Paribas, Credit Suisse and Deutsche Bank coordinated the operation, which also had the Bank of Brazil as a distributing agent.
The BNDES believes that the success of the transaction may simplify the access of other companies to European investment. Since 2008, the BNDES has already made three issues in dollars, totalling US$ 3 billion.
