São Paulo – Thirty-one Brazilian health device companies will participate in Arab Health 2023, the largest trade show of the sector in the Middle East, which will take place in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, from January 30 to February 2. All manufacturers are affiliated with the Brazilian Health Devices (BHD), the sectoral project of the Brazilian Medical Devices Manufacturers Association (ABIMO) in partnership with the Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (ApexBrasil).
Gathering some 3,000 exhibitors from 70 countries, the event is constantly growing and can become the world’s leading event soon. “Last year, we were a delegation of 20 companies, and this number increase in 2023 shows that our manufacturers are confident in doing good business and the connections they can make for their internationalization projects,” Larissa Gomes, project and international marketing manager of ABIMO, was quoted as saying in a statement.
“From January to November last year, companies affiliated with BHD increased by 26.43% medical device exports to the Middle East countries. As we have a good share in countries like Turkey, Israel and the UAE, being at Arab Health is crucial,” Gomes explained.
Arab Health promotes a network between industry leaders and potential buyers by welcoming exhibitors from 70 participating countries and holding dozens of sideline events. Besides the Middle East, the event is an important gateway for markets in Asia and North Africa.
Ross Williams, exhibition director at Informa Markets, responsible for the organization of the event, said the UAE has stood out as a global healthcare hub and the show has been key for this development. “In 2022, during Arab Health, USD 762 million worth of deals were landed, which not only establishes the country as a good healthcare environment for doing business but also stresses its importance for the global worldwide audience,” he said in a statement.
Brazil has bolstered its trade relations with the host country. From January to November 2022, the national industry exported USD 4.21 million to the UAE, up 121.7% from a year earlier.
Companies that got places in the Brazilian pavilion have high expectations for the event. Olidef has exhibited in international shows for approximately 20 years, and it was at Arab Health in 2022 and will be in 2023 as well. The Brazilian pavilion has also created room for newcomers like JG Moriya, which will be in in the event for the first time and seeks new distributors strategically located in Europe and the Middle East.
