Rio – The Brazilian Gross Domestic Product (GDP) – the sum of all goods and services generated by the economy – grew 1.4% in the second quarter of this year, in comparison with the first quarter. Compared with the first quarter of 2004, the growth rate amounted to 3.9%.
During the first half of the year, the GDP grew 3.4%, compared with the first half of 2004. During the 12-month period ending in June, 2005, the GDP was up 4.3% in comparison with the previous period.
These figures were released today (31) in a note by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE).
