São Paulo – Brazil’s Health minister Alexandre Padilha is paying a visit to Palestine this Friday (3rd) and Saturday (4th). The schedule for Friday includes a meeting with the Palestinian Health minister Hani Abdeen, in Ramallah. The Brazilian will also visit the area’s health reference centre.
“We are already engaged in medical cooperation with Palestina, and we are backing their healthcare system as a means of contributing to their development,” said Padilha, according to a statement from the Brazilian ministry.
On Saturday (4th), Padilha will inaugurate a medical centre in Hebron, built with a US$ 1 million donation from the Brazilian government. According to information from the ministry, Brazil has donated US$ 10 million to the government of Palestine for support and humanitarian aid, to be invested in education, professionalization, agriculture and healthcare.
“To Brazil, health is a bridge for cooperation between peoples that bears a palpable outcome. The improved quality of healthcare services and increased access to medication and treatment is a continuous effort from the Ministry of Health, and the target of our international action,” said, in another press release, Alberto Kleiman, the head of International Advisory at the Ministry of Health. Padilha will return to Brazil on Saturday.
