Brasília – In August, the increase in Brazilian industrial production was more widespread than in previous months, and reached nearly all sectors of the processing industry, according to the Industrial Survey disclosed today (24th) by the National Confederation of Industries (CNI).
The survey, conducted among 1,603 companies and completed on the last 21st, shows that out of 26 segments surveyed, only the rubber industry recorded a decline compared with July, a month in which production by nine different sectors decreased (in comparison with June).
According to the Industrial Survey, production has gone from 53.4 points in July to 55.1 points last month, leading the use of installed capacity to increase to 51 points, slightly more than the average for the month. The indicator varies from zero to 100, and values above 50 indicate positive expectations.
According to the survey, inventory levels reached 51.4 points, a score higher than planned by Brazilian enterprises, and the highlights were larger inventories by medium and large enterprises, at 52.3 points. Production reserves by small companies totalled 49 points.
CNI economist Renato Fonseca stated that businessmen expectations for the coming six months remain optimistic, at 61.5 points, slightly above the historical average of 59.9 points. He also explained that sales growth perspectives have led to improved expectations of raw material purchases, for which the indicator reached 59.1 points.
Perspectives regarding exports were positive on the part of large enterprises, at 54.1 points. The indicator was lower among medium (49 points) and small enterprises (49.7).
