Rio de Janeiro – The Brazilian Institute for Geography and Statistics (IBGE) and the Chinese State Geodesy and Cartography Agency signed today (9), an agreement for technical and scientific cooperation. Improvement in the area of cartography, remote sensing and geographic information systems will be among the main themes of the agreement that, initially, should last five years.
For the signing of the document, a Chinese delegation came to Brazil headed by the deputy minister of Natural Resources and director general of the Chinese agency, Lu Xinshe. This afternoon, the delegation was scheduled to visit the IBGE Geodesy and Cartography areas and tomorrow (10), they will travel to Brazilian capital Brasília, where they will meet with the minister of environment, Marina Silva.
