São Paulo – The Brazilian Sarah Mansur, from Rio de Janeiro, won the Miss Lebanon Immigrant competition, promoted in Beirut on Wednesday (26). The competition was disputed by 25 candidates from 19 countries, including another Brazilian, Caroline Assad, from São Paulo, who is of Lebanese descent.
The competition, which takes place every year, is organized by the Global Lebanese Cultural Union, which in Brazil has the support of the National Federation of Lebanese and Brazilian Organisations. Last year, the winner was also a Brazilian, Carina El Kaddissi, from Rio de Janeiro, who was in Beirut to receive the new Miss.
During the event, which was televised by Lebanese TV channel LBC, which broadcasts to the Middle East, the candidates walked the runway in bathing suits, evening dress and typical garments of their country of origin and also showed clothes by famous Lebanese designers.
The countries of origin of the candidates, apart from Brazil, were Canada, Jordan, Armenia, Argentina, Sweden, England, the United States, Germany, Senegal, France, Australia, Switzerland, Benin, Kuwait, Wales, Cyprus, South Africa and Burkina Faso.
The winner
Sarah Barbosa Mansur, aged 19, was born in Santa Maria Madalena, in the state of Rio. She is 1.73 metre tall and is studying Production Engineering. Sarah is the great-granddaughter of Said Mansur and Lamia Féres Osta Mansur, from the Lebanese Wadi Chahrour, who established roots in the city of Rio de Janeiro early last century.
