Rio de Janeiro – Brazilian milk production grew by 8.9% in Q1 from Q4, reaching 6.2 billion litres of raw milk. When compared to Q4 2013, however, the result shows a drop of 5.5%.
The data are part of the Quarterly Survey of Animal Slaughter and Milk, Leather and Egg Production on Q1 2014 disclosed this Thursday (26th), by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE).
The data show that the bovine slaughter grew by 2.9% in Q1 from Q1, reaching a total of 8.4 million heads – an all-time high for Q1 growth.
The slaughter of chicken closed Q1 with an increase of 5.5%, reaching 1.4 billion heads – also an all-time high for a Q1. Q1-on-Q4, however, the result showed a decline of 1.7%.
