São Paulo – Brazilian and Arab authorities will be at the Global Halal Brazil Business Forum (GHB) this Monday (23) and Tuesday (24) at the WTC Events Center in the capital of São Paulo. The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Brazil, Mauro Vieira, and the Minister of State for Foreign Trade of the United Arab Emirates, Thani bin Ahmed Zeyoudi, will speak at the event opening on videos. The Minister of Agriculture and Livestock of Brazil, Carlos Fávaro (pictured), will participate in person in the closing on the second day.
The GHB is a gathering to promote debates on the halal market in Brazil and to meet players involved in this industry, from scholars to authorities, businesspeople, and public representatives. The event is in its second edition, held by the Arab-Brazilian Chamber of Commerce (ABCC) and certification entity FAMBRAS Halal, focusing on a market of products and services complying with the standards of the Islamic religion. Halal consumers total 1.9 billion people worldwide.
In addition to the aforementioned ministers, other authorities at the event will include the vice-dean of the Council of Arab Ambassadors in Brazil and ambassador of Morocco, Nabil Adghoghi; the secretary-general of the Islamic Chamber of Commerce, Industry, and Agriculture (ICCIA), Yousef Khalawi; the president of the ABCC, Osmar Chohfi; and the chairman of FAMBRAS Halal, Mohamed Zoghbi.
Executives from halal-supplying companies will participate in the event, such as the vice-president of International Market and Planning of BRF, Leonardo Dall’Orto; the CEO of Seara Alimentos, João Campos; and the director of Sustainability and Communication of Marfrig, Paulo Painez. From Arab companies, speakers will include the CEO & founder of JIA Trade & Healthy Food Marketing & Tourism, Ibrahim Abu Helil, from Jordan.
The organizers aim to raise awareness among more players in Brazil about the prospects of the global halal market and send a message to the Islamic world about the importance the country already has in the industry as the leading global supplier of halal protein and its capacity to expand further, serving new products and more countries with Islamic populations. The in-person event is now closed for registration but will be broadcast live on YouTube.
