Brasília – A Brazilian mission is in Russia, led by minister of Development, Luiz Fernando Furlan, for discussions on more Brazilian imports of chicken, pork and beef. According to Furlan, the quota system put in place last year by Russia could mean much lower sales of poultry and pork, especially, to the tune of some 200,000 tons, which translates into a loss of around US$500 million.
As part of the process of removing the quotas, Brazil and Russia have set up a commission to debate the issue, It will meet in Russia on February 2, and in Brasilia on February 18."We got the Russians to set up this commission and discuss the matter at a high level," said Furlan. (
